Voraussetzungen
You should be able to use Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF) or Program Development Facility (PDF) and demonstrate basic knowledge of:
- Operating System/Virtual Storage (OS/VS) Job Control Language (JCL)
- Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) services utilities
- The IMS Database System

This is a basic course for database administrators, system programmers, and other data administration individuals, who design, implement, and maintain Data Language/Integrated (DL/I) databases.
You will learn to:
- Code the Database Directories (DBD) and Program Specification Blocks (PSB) for physical databases
- Code the DBDs and PSBs to implement secondary indexing
- Use the appropriate IMS utilities to reorganize and recover physical databases, including those with secondary indexes
- Use the DL/I test program
- Prepare a job stream to load a database using any of the IMS access methods
- Introduction to DL/I
- DL/I application programming techniques
- Use of the DL/I test program
- Introduction to IMS access methods
- Hierarchical Indexed Sequential Access Method (HISAM), Hierarchical Indexed Direct Access Method (HIDAM), and Hierarchical Direct Access Method (HDAM) physical storage characteristics and organizations
- DBD, PSB, and JCL datasets and coding
- IMS test utility
