Kursbeschreibung 

The purpose of this course is to teach enabling an Oracle database to a DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows Version 9.7 environment. The workshop introduces DB2 and Oracle basic architecture, basic DB2 operations, DB2 9.7 Oracle compatibility features, enablement tools, and enablement process.

Lectures and machine labs are used to explain how to enable Oracle database objects, tables, views, stored procedures, packages, triggers, and so on. Data movement and application conversion (C/C++, Java, Perl, and so on) are also explained.

Learn how to utilize the facilities of the IBM Data Movement Tool, DB2 Command Line Process (CLP), DB2 Command Line Process Plus (CLPPlus) to extract DDL and PL/SQL code for Oracle database objects, perform minor changes if required, and enable the database object in a DB2 9.7 environment.

  • Understand the basics of a programming language
  • Understand the basic of stored procedure, function, and trigger in Oracle or DB2

    This basic course is for database administrators, database application designers, and database application programmers have the mission to convert a database and applications from an Oracle environment to DB2 would all benefit from attending this course.

    This course is appropriate for those using DB2 in a z/Linux environment.

    • Start a DB2 instance
    • Stop a DB2 instance
    • Retrieve DB2 licensing and version information
    • Create the SAMPLE database
    • Configure a DB2 instance and database
    • Connect to a DB2 database and run SQL
    • Use IBM Optim Database Administrator to operate a database
    • Create a target database for Oracle enablement
    • Check DDL files extracted by the IBM Data Movement Tool
    • Modify the DDL files to fit a physical database design for an enablement project
    • Perform an interactive deployment with the IBM Data Movement Tool
    • Create database objects using a script
    • Move data from Oracle to DB2
    • Create DB2 objects using DB2 Command Line Plus (CLPPLus)
    • Check and correct unsupported syntax in the extracted DDL
    • Resolve the side effects of syntax change
    • Enable a Java program that connects to an Oracle database and issues a SELECT statement
    • Enable a Java program that calls a function
